The long-awaited Malir Expressway, now officially named the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Expressway in honor of the late Pakistan People’s Party leader, has opened its first 9.1-kilometer section. This newly inaugurated stretch connects Qayyumabad to Shah Faisal, marking a significant milestone in enhancing Karachi’s road infrastructure and improving urban connectivity.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by prominent government officials, including Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, senior politician Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Karachi Administrator Saeed Ghani, and Spokesperson Murtaza Wahab. Their collective vision and efforts have brought this ambitious project to life, reflecting their commitment to Karachi’s development.

Key Features of the Malir Expressway

When completed, the 39-kilometer expressway will link Korangi Creek Avenue (DHA) to the M-9 Motorway near Kathore, offering a high-speed corridor for commuters and businesses. Equipped with six lanes and modern facilities, it promises to cut travel times by up to 50%.
